PAYT Meeting Minutes for June 4, 2003

Present:  Terry Miller, George Russell, Don Friswell, Carol Gloff, Peter Slamin, Jay Ball, Brinley Vickers, Debbie Hellmold

Bags
Bags will be delivered to the stores on Thursday, June 5, 2003.  We have a sign that the stores can display with the bags.  (FYI – a pallet contains 25 cases; one store took 1 ½ pallets; most take a certain number of cases.)

Other DPW
Stickers for barrels for commingled are available and will be mentioned in the booklet.  DPW employees have tags ready for non-compliance.  Board of Health is responsible for any dumping violations and fines.

Mailings
Brochure: All residents should have received the brochure with their water bills.  DPW workers also have some with them and can hand them out.  We have extras.
Postcard:  It’s at the printer and should be mailed out next week.  This is paid for through the grant.
Flyers:  Brinley will finish this and we will distribute it to stores and other places where it can be posted. (e.g. Town offices, DPW, Senior Center, Railroad stations, S. Natick stores, Casey’s Diner)
Booklet:  This will contain mostly recycling information including the calendar for next year.  Terry and George will work on this and have it ready to be mailed before July 1.  Peter has been working on the Solid Waste Policy piece also to be included.

Publicity
Cable TV will begin to scroll information with weekly facts (FYI’s).  These have been sent to the Tab starting next Friday.  George is in touch with newspapers to do a photo op.  Terry and John Moran appeared on the Town Crier and might do one more show before July 1.

Signs
Debbie Hellmold has the sign for the community board at the common which will be displayed the week of June 23.  DPW also will get use of the flashing sign board that was recently used for  seat belt warnings.  George will discuss with the police dept the best locations for this sign.

Other
There was some discussion about having a presence in the grocery stores to answer questions and the feeling of the committee was let’s wait and see how the sales of bags go in the next 2 weeks.  If they go well, then people know enough.

PAYT T-shirts are available to committee members; George is having a meeting with BFI on June 20th.

June 14th – Book Sale at the Library.  We’ll have a display and be available.  Carol will check into permission.

We scheduled a tentative meeting for June 18th but probably can accomplish what we need to via e-mail.
Adjourned at 8:50pm.
